DESCRIPTION:

The Serial Transmitter - Model 3210 receives either Synchronous or Asynchronous serial output data from a data logger or data acquisition unit and converts this data to an ALERT/IFLOWS format for radio frequency transmission. When considering the Serial Transmitter please note that is should be installed near a remote terminal unit (RTU) so a serial cable can be connected between them. The Serial Transmitter is dependent upon the host RTU for the serial inputs needed to initiate a transmission. The serial inputs will be converted into the ALERT/IFLOWS data format by the Serial Transmitter prior to transmission. The Serial Transmitter's output power is 5 W, however it is pre-wired for an optional 25 W power amplifier, for sites that require more transmission power. If a power amplifier is needed for your Serial Transmitter it must have its own power source.

The Serial Transmitters are compatible with all existing ALERT/IFLOWS Networks.

The Serial Transmitters is programmed with a battery protection function and has a holdoff mode. Holdoff modes include a 20 second time delay for all Serial Transmitter transmissions, disabling the transmission after 5 seconds of on-time, and disabling transmissions if the battery voltage drops below 10.5 VDC. While the Serial Transmitter requires minimal maintenance it should be checked periodically for signs of corrosion or damage. Additionally if an onsite charging source is unavailable for the Serial Transmitter's battery the battery voltage must be monitored.
